An explosion occurred at the Autonomous Port of Lomé this Tuesday, March 12, 2024, causing damage, deaths and injuries and then throwing the ship Déborah into chaos. The damage is considerable, especially the deaths recorded. Two crew members lost their lives in the explosion, while two others were seriously injured. 

The staff of the autonomous port of Lomé were in desolation this Tuesday following an explosion in a ship causing the death of two crew and two others injured. A poignant human toll. The names of the victims remain unknown for the moment, their families in anguish, while waiting to know the fate of their loved ones. 

As soon as the explosion was noted, the port authorities mobilized significant resources to resolve the critical situation that arose. The harbor master's office, the national navy (Togonavy), firefighters and ambulance teams rushed to the autonomous port of Lomé to extinguish the flames. Despite their heroic efforts, two of the deceased members remain unaccounted for, while fire continues to ravage the ship. Emergency services are working to find the bodies and fight against the flames, the intensity of which makes access to the interior of the ship difficult.
